What is a bespoke website?

A bespoke website is a website that is built from scratch with no pre-made templates or designs. The client will receive a website built entirely to their specification, with all of the features they need to run their business and sell their services effectively.

Creating a bespoke website takes more time to discuss, plan, design and build than a template option. For this reason, bespoke websites cost more and take a little longer.

How bespoke websites differ from using website templates

With a template, the design and much of the website structure is already pre-determined and a website building platform is used to create the site. This could be done by a website developer, however most template website companies only sell the template, leaving the user to build it themselves or source their own developer. These websites will not be suitable for many businesses, especially those without development experience that require a website with more than basic functionality. Your website will look and function so much better if it has been made bespoke to your needs.

The benefits of a bespoke website

There are many reasons to choose a bespoke website.

Bespoke websites:

  • Create a unique impression and stand out from competitors
  • Can increase credentials and perceived expertise
  • Improve website SEO performance
  • Are easily scaled in line with company growth and expansion
  • Have the potential to increase sales and profits (see points above)

Who should own a bespoke website?

Any business that wants to stand out from competitors should be considering bespoke website design services, especially those that want their website to function in a unique way.

Moreover, a start-up business that plans on growing significantly, or a business that requires a larger website, should consider using a bespoke website because the developer will be more able to adjust the website to cater to this growth. Most template websites are basic and not designed to be expanded beyond a few groups of pages.

Who shouldn’t own a bespoke website?

There is rarely a business or client that would not benefit from a bespoke website and we would recommend that be the goal of most businesses, but that doesn’t mean you must get one. If time and budget are a concern, it is always better to have a website that is not bespoke than not have a website at all. Here at WEBPRO Creative, we can help talk through the best options for the budget you have.
